The Devil’s Rain account
A widely repeated version ties the cast to Shatner’s melting-face makeup for the film, shot in late 1974 and released in 1975. The route is plausible, but no Don Post or Malone statement confirms it.
The Star Trek account
Shatner says the cast was made during Star Trek for prosthetic work. A 2018 statement disputed The Devil’s Rain; a 2019 statement partly conceded it may be possible.
No statement from Bill Malone or Don Post Studios identifies the production for which the life cast was made. The federal court record says only that Don Post Studios owned a foam master of Shatner’s head.
